Six Week Art Course

The 6 Week Art Courses are designed to accommodate the busy folk who can’t commit to longer courses. In 6 weeks you can gather a broad range of skills and techniques encouraging you to continue on the journey long after the course is finished. The two hour sessions allow time for demonstrations and ample time for you to explore these techniques on your own. The courses are generally for those who consider themselves as beginner – improver levels. However if you are unsure what level you are at, there are skills and techniques that can be learned for all abilities!

A  6 Week Art Course through the medium of Acrylics. You will learn simple Painting techniques to turn your Artwork into masterpieces. Primarily exploring painting with Acrylics, the course will include some drawing skills and mixed media techniques

 

On this course you will also learn about different styles from other well-known artists, leading to you developing your own creative style. Additionally, we will be covering and looking into further detail seascapes, landscapes and mixed media.
Six Week Art Course by Rachel Rasmussen

During the course, Rachel will facilitate workshops that includes:

  • Exploring brush stroke and layering techniques with Acrylics. The use of ink with acrylics and exploration of a stylised artistic approach. We will create impressive skies drawing from other well-known artists.
  • Expressive Seascape painting – exploring bold shapes, exaggerated brushstrokes and strong colour, to depict traditional subject in a contemporary approach (fast, finished painting), again looking at other artists’ work styles.
  • Mixed media – for over 2 weeks we will be experimenting with texture, varied materials, mediums, and of course paints!
  • Exploring movement through painting, from people to animals, you will be able to capture the motion through simple techniques.

Each class will include demonstrations by Rachel, working with landscapes, seascapes, and abstract art, which students can follow. However, you are encouraged to create your own masterpiece.

Students will develop:

Artistic skills, knowledge of art mediums and tools, self-confidence and an urge to keep on creating!

What to bring:

You will be required to bring basic art materials such as: a variety of paint brushes, acrylic paints, drawing pencils and some classes will require a canvas or canvas panel and multi-purpose pad or sketch pad. 6 Week Art Course

Still Life using various mediums

By popular request for a crash course in Still Life. This course requires a variety of mediums.

Such as Soft Pastel or Pencil Pastels, Watercolours, Acrylics and Drawing Pencils.

Looking at various objects for stimuli, along with exploring other artists work, this will help develop skills such as perspective and composition, 2d-3D transformation, form and contrast through tones and textures.

During the course, Rachel will facilitate workshops that includes:

  • Exploring shape and form to identify likeness of the chosen subject developing perception and composition.
  • Expressive painting – exploring bold shapes, exaggerated brushstrokes and strong colour, to depict traditional subject in a contemporary approach (fast, finished painting). This still life class will develop expression by having the students bring a personal subject of interest.
  • Through the mediums of charcoal and pastels, we will explore still life with light and shadow, developing techniques of creating contrasts of tones and textures.
  • Expressive stylistic techniques of using inks, fine liners and watercolours. We will explore various view points of the same Still Life to finalise on a preferred composition.

Each class will include demonstrations by Rachel, working with the various mediums. However, you are encouraged to create your own masterpiece.
