Tenby-The Pier View
I have decided to do this next collection on a smaller scale but with more detail. I worked from photographs and added vibrant colour to the buildings for a happier finish to the painting.
I hadn’t quite thought of taking progressive pictures of my paintings until now, I missed a few pictures for progressions sake but you get a little sneaky view of how I work!
Sketch with a basic blues added in
Adding a basic wash of shades to all of painting
Added foreground detail and sky detail
Then worked on boats and colour blocking in the houses (no pic of this!)
Reworked the houses and the sky (no pic of this!)
finally I reworked the foreground and….
I realize i’m not a ”quick/paint once” artist, I’m a ”rework until I get it right” artist. I’m also not one to get rid of the painting and start again person, I refuse defeat! Half the challenge for me is to rework a painting until I get it where I want it. I’m a person that doesn’t like to go back in the same direction if I get lost or have forgotten something, I don’t like to give up on things that I’ve started . I see value in everything and beauty in everything, hence my husband calls me a bit of a hoarder, I also can’t go passed a skip without scanning slowly and carefully to see what beauty I can find. If I go to the beach I pick up shells stones sea glass drift wood, I just think natural treasures are the best thing ever. I like to create beautiful things from ugly things. I always see a project in everything. I’ll notice an expensive something and think I could do that myself. The mind of a constantly creative person never stops!
Hope you like it!
Prints and cards of this one will be available soon.
